History of Waterloo Woods Cabin Retreat
Your Hosts
Lauren & Andy Dick
Lauren and Andy Dick moved to the Athens, Ohio area in 1994 to attend Ohio University and Hocking College. It was here that we fell in love with each other and the Southeastern Ohio Region. In 2000, we purchased our first beautiful four acres adjacent to the Waterloo Wildlife and Research Area. Over the past 25 years, we have continued to expand our ownership of more property in this magical place. As of May 2017, we celebrated the acquisition of additional acreage, now totaling 95 acres, which includes two cabins in Marshfield: Chanterelle Chateau and Foxfire Cabin. We have also added a third cabin in nearby Nelsonville: Vista View.
It has been our dream to share the peace and serenity of Waterloo Woods with others who desire to get away from it all and rejuvenate. We continue to invest in renovations and maintain our properties in excellent condition. We take great pride in assuring our guests stay in a private, clean, serene, and welcoming environment.
This new website marks the first phase of our ongoing commitment to enhancing guest access and experience.
How Waterloo Woods Cabin Retreat Has Evolved
It has been an incredible and joyous journey to grow from one to three unique cabins in such an astonishing setting, next to the Waterloo Wildlife Area. We love sharing with others and hope you’ll join us soon!
Chanterelle Chateau
The first cabin we purchased in 2000 included 4 acres. This lovely place sparked our passion for this acreage adjacent to the Waterloo Wildlife Area.
The Foxfire Cabin
In October 2019, we launched our second cabin, "The Foxfire," which shares a pond with Chanterelle Chateau. This peaceful cabin retreat is nestled on 95 acres of private woodland property.
Vista View
Our third cabin is a brand-new, Swedish-inspired build featuring 16-foot-high ceilings, an open floor plan, and situated on 91 acres with magnificent views and access to nature at its finest.
